There are many regions in Romania where people still perform rituals and stick to centuries-old traditions.

It can be a completely different experience if you will choose to delve into a different side of life (one that is focused on spirituality and kindness instead of material goods). This is mostly where you will find goodness and happy faces. Romanians are very welcoming, always ready to offer tourists kind words and help (if needed).

Zarnesti village near Brasov. This area is beginning to get some attention, as more and more tourists are fascinated with its natural beauty. You will be greeted by a warm and picturesque atmosphere and often you will have the impression that time stood still. This lovely establishment is situated near Piatra Craiului Massif which means that you are basically surrounded by mountains. Sounds amazing, doesn’t it? Zarnesti Key is the most popular objective in the area as you will be welcomed into a magical natural land where you will be charmed by spectacular views.

Viseul de Sus in Maramures. This particular place is known at an international level for the starting point of Mocanita, the smoke train. This is a fun way to take the tour of the area while enjoying a slow yet entertaining train ride.

This particular vehicle was used back in the day for wood transportation and even in the present time, it has kept the same utility. However, now, curious tourist can get on board and take in the amazing views. Also, you will have access to delicious food and plenty of reasons to have a good time with friend and family.

Transfagarasan and Balea Lake. This is the most popular road in Transylvania and for good reason. Even if it’s very difficult to get through (due to the numerous serpentines), the entire ride is like getting into a mysterious realm far away from the world we are familiar with. This road is situated at over 2000 meters altitude which means that the views are breathtaking. You will also have a chance to visit Balea Lake, another spectacular objective in Romania.

Suceava, a beautiful and charming city. Situated in Moldova, Suceava is a traditional establishment filled with history and many tales of the past. The Royal Court, Suceava Fortress, Scheia Fortress are just a couple of touristic possibilities on your visit here. You will encounter a very old city, which was once one of the most important points of access in the country (many voivods ruled Moldova from here).

The Happy Cemetary in Spanta. Another unique yet specific to the Romanian culture is this amazing cemetery in Maramures. The name may seem contradictory, however, the story of this establishment is quite interesting. All the tombstones have been manually painted and on each and every one of them there is a poem or some sort of writing personalized for the person that died.

Sapanta Cemetary is a different approach to one of the most feared and tabu topics in European culture: death. This is the local’s way of celebrating the life of the person and remembering them through the main traits of character.
